Influence of Feeding Natural and Synthetic Lycopene on Performance, Egg Quality and Serum Parameters of Japanese Quail Layers

Background: This study was conducted to investigate the effects of natural and synthetic sources lycopene on performance, egg quality some blood characteristics Japanese quail layers. Methods: The 252 eight-week-old hens were randomly divided into seven treatments with three replication. first treatment fed basal diet (control). Second third given diets containing tomato fruit powder (TOM) at a level 17 34 g/kg equal 50 100 mg/kg lycopene, fourth fifth red bell pepper (RBP) 16.23, 32.46 while rate 50, (mg/kg) supplemented sixth seventh respectively. Result: final body (T4-T6), hen day production (except for T3 T6), weight, mass (T4, T5), feed intake, FCR improved as compared control. Significant effect weight eggshell, yolk, albumen (height diameter). Yolk (height, diameter, index) (P≤0.05) increase in total protein HDL, cholesterol T2 T7), triglycerides T2) LDL decreased significantly (P≤0.05). It could be concluded that supplementary TOM, RBP LY, have beneficial laying traits biochemical indices quails.
